Airport conquest series. Noto Airport and Toyama Airport in a single day. From Noto Airport, the route goes by bus and Noto Railway through Anamizu and Nanao, then JR Nanao Line to Kanazawa, IR Ishikawa Railway and Ainokaze Toyama Railway to Toyama, and bus to Toyama Airport.
The full series index is here.
Route Design
Both Noto and Toyama served only Haneda routes (at the time) and are both in the Hokuriku region. The plan: fly into Noto, travel south overland, and fly out of Toyama.
The overland route from Noto Airport to Toyama Airport: Noto Airport → (bus) → Anamizu Station → (Noto Railway) → Nanao Station → (JR Nanao Line) → Kanazawa Station → (IR Ishikawa Railway / Ainokaze Toyama Railway) → Toyama Station → (bus) → Toyama Airport. I had already completed Noto Railway, but this route requires passing through it.
Itinerary (as of November 2021)
Timetables are subject to change. Check the latest schedules before traveling.
40 Minutes at Kanazawa Station
Arrived at Kanazawa at 13:08, departure toward Toyama at 13:45. About 40 minutes — enough to eat a pork cutlet curry at Go Go Curry Kanazawa Station Sōhonzan inside the station. Kanazawa curry is a local specialty originating in Kanazawa, and the station location makes it quick.
2.5 Hours at Toyama Station
Arrived at Toyama at 14:43, airport bus at 17:10. About 2.5 hours of free time. I did some shopping around the station.
Note
This article is based on the November 2021 timetable. The January 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake caused damage to Noto Airport and Noto Railway. Check each operator’s official website for current service status.
